WHO I AM
Born in Warrnambool, Victoria, in 1963, I am a proud Gunditjmara/Kirrae Whurrong woman and renowned artist. Despite facing significant health challenges and racism, I have thrived as a First Nations artist for over 35 years. My journey began with tapestry weaving, and I was the first Aboriginal artist to design and weave my own artwork at the Australian Tapestry Workshop.
My art has evolved to include canvas painting, and I have become a prominent figure in the art world, exhibiting in Melbourne and completing numerous public and private commissions. I have also taught Victorian Aboriginal art and was a founding board member of the Tarerer Gunditj Project Association, which focused on promoting Aboriginal culture and reconciliation.
My artwork has been featured in various public art projects, including the Australian Cricket team's uniforms, (worn in all formats including Australian umpires) as well as creating large-scale murals, sculptures, and artworks for train stations, overpasses, and community centres. My art celebrates my culture in hopes of inspiring others with strength, wisdom, and resilience.
My online store features products such as activewear, apparel and other items which display my signature art.
